Finals Week Fuel on the Rails: Meet Iron Leaf REFUELS

If you’ve been anywhere near ETSU lately, you can feel it in the air, backpacks a little
heavier, playlists a little louder, and calendars packed with deadlines. Around the shop,
we call this stretch the long haul—that part of the journey where you don’t need more
stress… you just need something that keeps you steady.
That’s exactly why I built Iron Leaf REFUELS.
They’re our 20 oz loaded iced teas made with real brewed tea, lemonade, bold syrups,
and a sweetened matcha shot—crafted to give you that “let’s do this” momentum
without the coffee crash. And yes, they’re $6, because they’re designed to be a full-on
pick-me-up you can sip between classes, shifts, and study sessions.

What makes a REFUEL different?
A lot of “energy” drinks are basically sugar and mystery ingredients. A REFUEL is built
like a well-planned route:
•Brewed tea base for real flavor and a smoother lift
•Lemonade for brightness (and that “wake up” tang)
•Bold syrups for fun, customizable flavor
•Sweetened matcha shot for an extra boost and creamy-green depth
The goal isn’t to make you jittery. It’s to help you feel focused and ready to roll.
Tea vs. coffee (for the busy ETSU schedule)
I’m not here to start a beverage war—coffee has its place. But if you’re trying to stay
sharp through a long study day, tea can be a better ride.

Here’s why many students and local regulars tell me they switch to tea when they need
a steadier pace:
•Smoother energy: Tea often feels less “spiky” than coffee
•Hydration-friendly: Especially with iced teas, you’re not drying out as fast
•Less crash: Many people report fewer afternoon slumps
•Flavor variety: You can go citrusy, fruity, creamy, or classic—without needing a dozen
add-ins
And if you want to keep it lighter, you can always ask for sweetness adjustments or
swap in milk alternatives.

How to order your REFUEL like a pro
If you’re new to Iron Leaf, here’s the easiest way to get exactly what you want:
1. Tell me your vibe: “I need something bright,” “I want sweet and fruity,” or “I want
bold.”
2. Choose your sweetness level: I can dial it up or down.
3. Pick add-ons if you want: Oat milk, almond milk, honey—whatever fits your route.
If you’re not sure, just say: “James, build me a REFUEL for finals week.” I’ve got you.

A one-person shop, built for quick stops
Since Iron Leaf is grab-and-go, I’ve designed the menu to move fast without cutting
corners. I’m steeping, shaking, sealing, labeling, and ringing you up—sometimes all at
once.
I’ll be honest: running a one-person tea shop feels a little like being the conductor and
the whole crew. But I love it, because it keeps the experience personal. I get to learn
what you like, remember your usual, and make sure every cup is something I’d be
proud to hand to a friend.

And for my local folks who aren’t on campus—REFUELS aren’t just for students. If you’re
heading to work, running errands down West Walnut, or you just need a little extra
steam in the engine, they’re for you too.
This week’s challenge: swap one coffee for a REFUEL

If you’re a coffee loyalist, here’s my challenge for the week:
• Swap one coffee run for a REFUEL
• Pay attention to how you feel an hour later
• Notice whether the energy feels steadier
Then tell me what you think. I’m always adjusting recipes and building new
combinations based on what Johnson City actually enjoys.
If you’re already a tea person, come in and try a new flavor direction—something you
wouldn’t normally pick. Sometimes the best part of the journey is taking a different
track.
Rolling through this season together
To every ETSU student pushing through finals, and every local regular keeping Johnson
City moving—thank you for letting Iron Leaf be part of your day. Whether you’re
grabbing a quick sweet tea, a latte, or a full-on REFUEL, I’m grateful you chose to stop
by.
